Identifying Davidson Victorian Glass - Dishes and Plates

Description:  A rectangular dish in Blue Pearline. Design 130643. 

 

Davidson Pattern No:  1890 Pattern Dish
Known Colours:  Flint, Pearline, Patent Rose

Date Introduced: 1890
Description:  The 1890 pattern was never registered as a design. Articles in the 1890 pattern do not have the Lion trade mark, as Thomas stopped using  the trade mark just before the pattern was introduced.

Description:  A dish in the 1895 pattern (Design No.254027).
Davidson Pattern No:  1896 Pattern Dish
Known Colours:  Flint, Pearline, Patent Rose

Date Introduced: 1896
Description:  A dish in the 1896 pattern (Design No.285342). This example is in Patent Rose which was also introduced in 1896. Although called Patent Rose by Davidson, the recipe for the colour was never patented or registered.

Description:  This small dish is part of the 1911 suite of glassware. The 1911 suite mainly consists of bowls, plates and dishes. The example shown here is hand painted. It is unlikely that the painting was done by or for Davidson.
Davidson Pattern No:  'Daisy' Plate

Date Introduced: 1886
Description:  The Daisy Pattern was introduced in late 1886 and was a popular line. The example shown here has the words 'GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD'. Plates with religious or uplifting phrase were popular in the 1880s and 1890s.

Date Introduced: 1885
Description:  Davidson made plates, round bowls and oval bowls in this pattern with sizes ranging from 3 1/2 inches up to 10 inches. Also a large comport was produced in this pattern.
